Captain Michael Sympouras [NEW]

Born Athens, Greece   

Primarily his early days were on cargo ships under the valuable guidance of his father who wasCaptain on his first vessel. This was his career path until he joined Celebrity cruises in 2001 afterreceiving his Master’s certification, initially serving aboard Century [one of our favourites but now

sold on] and other Solstice class ships before joining Eclipse.

Staff Captain, Konstantinos Karachalios

Born in Kalamaki near Athens. His apprentice officer training started in 1998 with Celebrity. Since then he has served on all Celebrity vessels. He has been a member of the opening team for all the Solstice Class vessels. He enjoys spending his time on the beach with the family and especially with his spirited niece.


Chief Engineer, Georgios Spyrellis

Born on the Greek island of Lesvos. He began his career on cargo and tanker ships. Joined Celebrity in 1998 moving up to Chief Engineer in 2006. He is responsible for the ship’s propulsion; electrical systems as well all the technical aspects of the ship. He lives in Athens with his family and during vacation he enjoys Tae Kwon Do and playing football.


Executive Chef, Darren Ridley

Grew up in Devon and went to Torquay Catering College after that he worked in London including a live in position at Buckingham Palace working at Windsor Castle and Sandringham House. He has also cooked in the House of Lords at the Houses of Parliament and also worked with the infamous Chef Gordon Ramsay.


Cruise Director, Damain De Lorenzis [NEW]

A native Canadian from Toronto he joined Celebrity in 2002 and has served as a Cruise Director since 2005. He has had the pleasure of offering entertainment on itineraries that touch every continent on the planet. He works on board with his wife who is a native of Turkey. He also worked with his wife.

Hotel Director, Mark Zeller [NEW]

Mark grew up in the city of Maastricht, Netherlands. After school he attended the University of Hospitality Management in Leeuwarden in the Netherlands. On completion of his studies he followed in his father’s footsteps and went to work on cruise lines, becoming the youngest Hotel Director in the fleet at 31. His team are committed to providing you with the experience of a lifetime.

When on vacation he and his wife Tomo reside in Charlotte, North Carolina. 


Food & Beverage. Manager, Sheldon C Martin

Sheldon born in Higham Ferrer’s, Rushden, Northamptonshire England. Raised in the sunny Caribbean Island of Trinidad and Tobago moving later to Florida. After graduating from the University of the West Indies He further developed his knowledge in the Culinary Academy of ACF Florida / CIA New York. He decided to take his career to the high seas 20 years ago.

Guest Relation Manager, Simona Stumberger [NEW]

She hails from Slovenia where she began life at sea in the Bar Department. She has held several other positions and was promoted to Guest Relations Manager on Zenth. As Guest Relations Manager she has many varied responsibilities including Guest Services and Customs clearance of the ship upon arrival in the port.
